Pfizer says drug shows promise for gastric cancer

BOSTON, Sept. 26 (Reuters) - Pfizer Inc. (PFE.N) said on Wednesday that data from a trial of its kidney cancer drug Sutent showed promise as a treatment for advanced gastric cancer.

Data from an early clinical trial of Sutent, also known as sunitinib, in patients with gastric cancer showed anti-tumor activity in previously chemotherapy-treated patients with advanced gastric cancer.

The data was presented at a cancer conference in Barcelona.
