Sept 28 (Reuters) - GE Energy, the energy arm of U.S. conglomerate General Electric Co (GE.N), said it is investing about $50 million to build its first manufacturing facility in Vietnam.

The new factory will produce components for GE's power generation equipment, the company said in a statement.

GE Energy expects the facility to be operational by the end of 2009. When fully operational, the facility is expected to employ more than 400 people, the company said. (Reporting by Dhanya Skariachan in Bangalore)
