MOSUL, Iraq (Reuters) - Two suicide lorry bombs killed two people and wounded 17 when they exploded at an Iraqi army base east of the northern city of Mosul on Sunday, police said.

Police said the two dead were civilians while most of the wounded were soldiers. Clashes had broken out in the Sinaea area where the explosions occurred, they added.

Insurgents have increasingly used lorry bombs in attacks in recent months.

A lorry bomb in the northern town of Tal Afar last Tuesday killed 152 people, making it the deadliest single bombing of the four-year-old war.
