Jade Goody quits Indian Big Brother over cancer fears
MUMBAI (Reuters) - "Celebrity Big Brother" star Jade Goody's stint on the Indian version of the reality TV show has been cut short after medical tests indicated she may have cancer, the show's producers said.
Goody will fly back to Britain on Tuesday after spending just two days on the "Bigg Boss" show, which started airing in India on Sunday and is being hosted by Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty, Goody's TV adversary on last year's "Celebrity Big Brother".
"Only yesterday, the results of Jade's test were out and the tests indicate the possibility of cancer," the show's producers and the "Colours" television channel said in a joint statement.
Goody had conducted the tests before flying to India. The statement did not give further details.
Goody, 27, was at the centre of a racism row on "Celebrity Big Brother" last year due to the way she and other housemates treated Shetty, who later went on to win the show.
Shetty played down allegations she had been the victim of racial abuse. Goody later apologised for her conduct.
"Bigg Boss" producers said on Tuesday that Goody had been looking forward to reaching out to Indians through the show "to try and dispel various perceptions that exist in people's mind about her."
Goody, the only international participant on "Bigg Boss," was seen trying her hand at Bollywood dances in the first episode. Continued...
