Fed backs efforts to find funding for AIG: official

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Federal Reserve is supportive of efforts by Goldman Sachs and JPMorgan to raise funds for embattled insurer American International Group Inc, a Fed official said on Monday.

"The Fed is encouraging the parties to work this out and is supportive of efforts by these companies to find funding for AIG," the official said.
