Thumbplay to provide mobile content to AOL
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Time Warner Inc's AOL has selected Thumbplay to provide mobile entertainment content such as ringtones and wallpapers for the service.
AOL will offer Thumbplay services across its Internet properties including AOL.com, AIM instant messaging service and its wireless Web site, the companies said in a joint statement.
AOL, the Internet division of one of the world's largest media companies, is undergoing a restructuring to make more of its services available for free to court online advertising.
New York-based Thumbplay offers mobile videos, ringtones, pictures and games for cell phones. The company has content distribution deals with EMI Music and Vivendi's Universal Music Group.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
