Italian banks say political crisis threatens market credibility

ROME, March 7 (Reuters) - Italy’s main banking association ABI called for a rapid resolution of the political stalemate following last week’s inconclusive election, saying it put the country’s status with markets and international partners at risk.

“The problems of the Italian economy cannot wait and a long period of uncertainty could compromise the credibility Italy has recovered on international markets and with its European partners,” ABI said in a statement.
