KASSEL, Germany May 13 German salt-mine
operator K+S SDFG.DE continues to look into all options to
increase capacity at its main potash fertiliser business even as
it is boosting its salt unit by taking over Morton Salt from Dow
Chemical (DOW.N), it said on Wednesday.
"Especially in our Potash and Magnesium Products business
segment, which operates at full capacity in normal years, we are
continuing to review all opportunities for acquiring additional
capacity around the globe," Chief Executive Norbert Steiner said
in remarks prepared for the group's annual general meeting.
Even though potash prices are falling from record highs and
farmers are holding off on orders, natural-resources peers
including BHP Billiton (BLT.L) and Russia's EuroChem are looking
to boost their potash mining capacity in the long term, as
demand for food and biofuels is seen on the rise.
