Sept 21 British construction and support
services company Kier Group has so far suffered no
material impact from Britain's vote to leave the European Union,
it said on Thursday after posting a 44 percent jump in
underlying operating profit.
Kier, the activities of which range from building power
stations to outsourcing work for local councils, reported
underlying operating profit of 150 million pounds ($196
million)for the year to June 30.
Though the June 23 Brexit vote was at the very end of Kier's
financial year, the company said its resilience is demonstrated
by an order book amounting to 8.7 billion pounds.
The company noted some investor and occupier caution in the
property market after the Brexit vote but said there has been no
noticeable impact on the performance of its property unit.
"We will continue to provide a network of local, regional
and national services and maintain our disciplined risk managed
approach to new work," Kier said in a statement.
