Twenty-five dead as bus drives off bridge in Iran
(Adds details)
TEHRAN, July 1 (Reuters) - Twenty-five people were killed on Tuesday when a passenger bus drove off a bridge and overturned after the driver fell asleep, Iranian state media quoted the police as saying.
The incident happened about 35 km (20 miles) south of the Iranian capital Tehran on the highway from the city of Qom, state television said, adding the bus was on its way to Syria.
Iran has one of the highest road accident rates in the world, blamed on inadequate police supervision, poor quality roads and reckless driving. (Reporting by Parisa Hafezi; Writing by Fredrik Dahl; Editing by Mariam Karouny)
