Soros fund cuts stakes in Countrywide, Yahoo --filing

WASHINGTON, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Billionaire investor George Soros reported on Thursday that his fund no longer held shares in Countrywide Financial Corp CFC.N as of Dec. 31, compared to a 1.78 million share stake as of Sept. 30.

Soros also reported in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing that Soros Fund Management cut its stake in Verizon Communications (VZ.N: Quote, Profile, Research) to 146,700 shares from 366,825 shares.

The fund cut its stake in Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O: Quote, Profile, Research) to 174,185 shares as of the end of the year from 204,535 shares at the end of the prior quarter.

Overall the value of the holdings in Soros' fund fell to $2.27 billion from $2.91 billion, the filing said. (Reporting by Karey Wutkowski)
