JOHANNESBURG, June 25 (Reuters) - Naspers Ltd (NPNJn.J), Africa’s biggest media company, said on Wednesday that it was hoping to launch its mobile TV service in another four African countries, having done so in Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria.
“During the year we launched mobile TV services in Namibia, Kenya and Nigeria. Going forward we looking to launch this service in another four African countries,” said Koos Bekker, Napers Chief Executive Officer, during a conference call.
Naspers said that if it had been granted a movile TV licence in South Africa this year, development costs would have been between 20-50 million rand.
“The main costs there is depreciation and content for the service (mobile TV), which could be anywhere between 20-50 million rand,” said the company. (Reporting by Gugulakhe Lourie)
