Bank of Ireland governor says well capitalised
DUBLIN, July 8 (Reuters) - Bank of Ireland (BKIR.I: Quote, Profile, Research) is "perfectly adequately capitalised" for the current environment and any future problems envisaged, Governor Richard Burrows said when asked if the bank planned to raise fresh capital.
"We have said as clearly as we can that this bank is adequately capitalised for the environment in which we are operating in and that is really as far as I can take it today," Burrows said on Tuesday when asked by a shareholder whether Bank of Ireland (BKIR.I: Quote, Profile, Research) would seek fresh capital from investors.
Burrows said at the bank's annual shareholders' meeting that he could not elaborate further.
