March 7 (Reuters) - Coal producer Patriot Coal Corp (PCX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) said lower production at its Federal mine near West Virginia will impact its first-quarter earnings.

It also added that longwall production will be curtailed at Federal for three to five weeks due to two roof falls in the last two weeks.

The company expects Federal to resume its normal production rate in the second quarter, it said in a release.

Patriot Coal said it is currently evaluating if a revision to its full-year outlook is necessary. (Reporting by Purwa Naveen Raman in Bangalore; Editing by Jarshad Kakkrakandy)
