HOUSTON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - Chevron Corp (CVX.N: Quote, Profile, Research) told air pollution regulators its 260,000 barrel per day Los Angeles-area refinery in El Segundo, California, was flaring on Wednesday due to an equipment breakdown, according to a regulatory notice.
A Chevron representative was not immediately available to discuss refinery operations.
The filing with South Coast Air Quality Management District said the flaring began at 11 a.m. PDT (1800 GMT).
