UPDATE 1-Husky says oil production resuming at White Rose
(Adds details)
CALGARY. Alberta, April 3 (Reuters) - Husky Energy Inc (HSE.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) has resumed oil production at its 140,000 barrel per day White Rose oil field off the coast of Newfoundland, two days after ice floes forced it to suspend output.
Husky said ice and weather conditions allowed the company to restart production late on Thursday. The company halted production on Tuesday when a massive ice floe moved within a few miles of the North Atlantic field.
The White Rose project uses a ship to pump and store oil from the field, which lies 350 km (217 miles) southeast of St. John's, Newfoundland.
Husky holds a 72.5 percent stake in the project while Petro-Canada (PCA.TO: Quote, Profile, Research) owns the remaining share. (Reporting by Scott Haggett; editing by Rob Wilson)
