Oil prices have climbed more than a third this year in a rally
that has rung alarm bells in consumer countries, such as the United
States, already hard hit by a housing slump and credit crisis.
On Thursday, oil prices hit a record peak of $135 a barrel,
before profit-taking pulled them back toward $130.
