Repsol YPF says union has seized Argentine plant
BUENOS AIRES, April 29 (Reuters) - The Argentine unit of Spain's Repsol YPF (REP.MC: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Tuesday that a group of union leaders had occupied one of its plants in the southern province of Santa Cruz.
Union officials were not immediately available to comment, but an energy sector source said the workers were demanding better wages.
"A group of people led by the union's secretary general ... violently occupied the separation plant at (the town of) Pico Truncado, blocking access to it and disrupting normal operations," YPF said in a statement.
The protest halted the pumping of oil to the plant, the company added.
Labor demands are commonplace in Argentina's energy sector and unionized workers have blocked access to companies' plants in the past. (Reporting by Cesar Illiano; Writing by Hilary Burke; Editing by Christian Wiessner)
