MOSCOW, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Russia's Economy Minister Maxim Oreshkin said on Friday he had discussed a recent sharp strengthening of the rouble currency with President Vladimir Putin, TASS news agency reported.
Oreshkin said the rouble's rally this week to one and a half-year highs against the dollar was of a "short-term" nature, but said the government was prepared to act quickly if it strengthened further.
He said no changes to government policy on the rouble were planned at the moment.
The rouble weakened slightly following Oreshkin's comments. (Reporting by Alexander Winning; Writing by Alessandra Prentice)
