Paterson returns for Scotland against Wales

EDINBURGH (Reuters) - Scotland coach Frank Hadden has recalled Chris Paterson to his starting line-up to face Wales in the Six Nations at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday (2:00 p.m.).
Paterson, who had a 100 percent goalkicking record at last year's Six Nations and World Cup, had been dropped to the bench for last week's defeat by France.
His return, at fullback for the injured Rory Lamont, was one of just two changes Hadden made. The other sees Kelly Brown, who came off the bench against France, start at number eight in place of David Callam.
Hadden had been widely expected to make sweeping changes after the 27-6 crushing by France.
"We were tempted to make more changes but we looked at the game in intricate detail and decided on our selection," said Hadden.
Edinburgh number eight Callam loses his place largely because he was short of match practice resulting in a below-par performance against France, while Brown comes in on the back of a string of good showings for Glasgow this season.
"Kelly did well when he came off the bench (against France). He has pace and in attack he really knows his stuff," said Hadden.
Paterson, who will win his 83rd cap, always looked likely to command a starting place against Wales after showing sharpness when he replaced the undynamic Dan Parks in the last quarter against France. Continued...
