Barclay ruled out of Ireland match with cut finger
EDINBURGH (Reuters) - Scotland flanker John Barclay has been ruled out of Saturday's Six Nations championship match against Ireland in Dublin (5 p.m.) after requiring nine stitches to a finger he cut in a domestic accident.
As a result coach Frank Hadden, who announced his 22 on Tuesday at Murrayfield with three positions left vacant, named Edinburgh captain Allister Hogg in the openside position on Wednesday.
Kelly Brown of Glasgow Warriors comes in at number eight while the uncapped 21-year old Edinburgh openside Ross Rennie, will fill the other empty place on the bench.
"While the door closes for one, it opens for another. It's a golden opportunity for Ross Rennie who has consistently put his hand up and demanded to be considered by the quality of his performances," Hadden told reporters
