UPDATE 1-CA adds 400 job cuts to restructuring plans
SAN FRANCISCO, April 4 (Reuters) - Business software maker CA Inc CA.N will cut another 400 jobs, bringing its total to 2,800, or 20 percent of the work force, the company said on Friday.
The additional job cuts and other restructuring actions will generate an additional $75 million to $100 million in charges, the company said in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
That brings the total expected charges for a restructuring first announced in 2006 to $275 million to $300 million.
CA also said it plans to consolidate global facilities, among other cost-cutting plans.
A spokesman for the Islandia, New York-based company said CA would give more details on affected facilities and other details when it reports quarterly results in May.
CA's previous estimate for its restructuring called for a reduction of 2,400 jobs, the spokesman said. When announced, CA estimated charges of about $200 million.
"This is an extension of the original plan," said Dan Kaferle, the CA spokesman.
Shares of the company closed down 9 cents, or 0.4 percent, to $23.24 on Friday. Continued...
