NEW YORK (Reuters) - A Samsung Electronics Co (005930.KS: Quote, Profile, Research) executive said on Wednesday that it sees continued difficulty in the DRAM memory chip market this year, and is unlikely to raise DRAM prices before the end of May.

"The DRAM market continues to look difficult for now. We may raise prices at the end of May or early June at the earliest, if back-to-school PC demand in the United States picks up," Robert Yi, Samsung Electronics' vice president of investor relations, told Reuters on the sidelines of an investor forum in New York.

"I don't think any price increase would be significant," he said. Samsung is the world's top memory chip maker.
