Japan MOF official: G7 to talk with private banks
TOKYO (Reuters) - Group of Seven finance leaders will likely invite major private banks to an outreach meeting alongside their gathering in Washington on Friday, a senior Japanese Ministry of Finance official said on Wednesday.
The MOF official also said global economic conditions and continuing financial market uncertainty would likely be the focus of the G7 finance leaders' talks.
"Uncertainty in the markets remains very strong as a whole. In such conditions, the focus of discussions will likely be what steps should be taken to ease risks (for the markets)," the official told reporters in a pre-G7 briefing.
Finance ministers and central bank governors of the Group of Seven major industrialised economies will meet in Washington on Friday.
