June 11 (Reuters) - Round-up of Day 15 at the French Open on Sunday:
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “There is nothing to say about today, you were too good. What you are doing in tennis is unbelievable. It’s always been an honour to play against you, two Grand Slam finals now, congratulations to you for your career and your team” - Stan Wawrinka to Rafael Nadal after suffering a 6-2 6-3 6-1 defeat to the Spaniard in the final.
FACT OF THE DAY: Nadal lifted his 10th French Open title to extend his record to 10-0 in finals at Roland Garros. It was the Spaniard’s 15th major title, three less than the men’s record held by Swiss Roger Federer.
STAT OF THE DAY: Nadal dropped just 35 games in seven matches on his way to the title, only three more than Bjorn Borg, who conceded 32 on his way to the 1978 title.
PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY: Nadal hit 27 winners and committed just 12 unforced errors during another dominant performance on the Paris clay. He broke Wawrinka’s serve six times to wrap up a straight-sets win in just over two hours. (Compiled by Hardik Vyas in Bengaluru; editing by Clare Fallon)
