LONDON (Reuters) - Brief reports on FA Cup fifth-round matches played on Saturday:

BRISTOL ROVERS 1 SOUTHAMPTON 0

Rovers reached the quarter-finals for the first time in 50 years thanks to a deflected 84th-minute free kick by Rickie Lambert, who was also celebrating his 26th birthday.

The League One (third division) side were deserved winners against Championship (second division) Southampton, who never appeared to have much relish for the job on a bumpy pitch.

CARDIFF CITY 2 WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS 0

Cardiff did the damage in the first 11 minutes as they made it to the last eight for the first time since 1927, the year they won the Cup.

They led the all-Championship (second division) tie with a Peter Whittingham goal in the second minute and after Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink lashed in the second nine minutes later they were rarely troubled.
