FACTBOX - Security developments in Iraq

(Reuters) - Following are security developments in Iraq at 10:30 a.m. British time on Thursday.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed 11 militants early on Thursday in the city of Kut, 170 km (105) southeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said. The military said in a statement the operations targeted "special groups criminal networks," a term it often uses to describe members of the Shi'ite Muslim Mehdi army militias who it says receive weapons and funding from Iran.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb exploded near a mini-bus, killing two of its passengers and wounding 10 in the Baladiyat district of eastern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb wounded two people in the Karrada district of central Baghdad, police said.

RAMADI - Iraqi police and U.S. forces detained two suspected al Qaeda members during operations on December 24 and 25 in the city of Ramadi, 110 km (70 miles) west of Baghdad. The suspects are believed to be linked to in the capture of three U.S. soldiers in May, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces detained a total of 19 suspected insurgents during operations targeting al-Qaeda in central and northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.
