WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States is aware of reports that a U.S. citizen was detained in North Korea and will work through the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang on the case, a State Department official said on Sunday.

“The security of U.S. citizens is one of the department’s highest priorities. When a U.S. citizen is reported to be detained in North Korea, we work with the Swedish embassy in Pyongyang,” the official said in an emailed statement.
