Flat panel speaker firm NXT NTX.L said on Monday it signed a three-year licensing agreement with Japan's Nissha Printing Co (7915.T) for its technology to be applied in certain small touch-screen applications, sending its shares up 21 percent.
NXT said Nissha, which makes decorative films and touch panels, will pay it $1.8 million (1.2 million pounds) upfront for the licence to use its haptic and associated bending wave technology, and royalties on the sale of relevant products thereafter.
The companies' development engineers will collaborate to commercialise the technology, NXT said.
The term of the licence can be extended in December, 2011, with both the companies' consent, NXT said in a statement.
At 8:24 a.m., NXT shares were up 21 percent at 8.63 pence.
