St. Louis County Police, State Highway Patrol taking over Ferguson security

(Reuters) - St. Louis County Police and Missouri State Highway Patrol are taking over security at protests in the city of Ferguson, Missouri, on Thursday evening, after two police officers were shot overnight, police said.

The St. Louis County Police Department said in a statement it is not assuming routine policing services in the city, which will continue to be in the hands of the Ferguson Police Department.
