KURARAY CO.,LTD. is a Japan-based supplier of chemical products, fibers, resins, functional materials and other products. The Company has three business segments. The Chemical Product and Resin segment is involved in the manufacture and sale of poval resin and film, eval resin, fine chemicals, metacrylate resin, processed resin products, thermoplastic elastomer and rubber, among others. The Fiber segment offers vinylon, artificial leather (clarion), polyester and dry nonwoven, among others. The Functional Material, Medical Product and Others segment offers highly heat resistant polyamide resin (genestar), membrane products, medical products, activated charcoal and furniture. This segment is also engaged in the logistics business, the management of real estate, the operation of golf courses and hotels, the insurance and travel agency businesses, as well as the consultation for the acquisition of International Organization for Standardization (ISO) qualifications.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 September 2009, KURARAYCO.,LTD.'s revenues decreased 25% to Y157.07B. The Company's net income decreased 61% to Y5.22B. Revenues reflect lower sales mainly from fibers & textiles business segment. Lower net income also reflects unfavorable gross and operating margin, the absence of Y1.26B gains on sale of long-term investment in securities as well as the presence of Y1.03B restructuring losses.
