GS Yuasa Corporation is a Japan-based company engaged in the manufacture and sale of batteries, power supply devices and illuminators. The Company has three business segments. The Battery and Power Source segment offers automotive and motorcycle batteries, as well as industrial batteries and power supply devices, including rectifiers, general power source and alkali batteries for electric vehicles. The Illuminator segment provides high-intensity discharge (HID) light sources, various lighting equipment, ultraviolet light irradiators, illuminant devices for far-ultraviolet ray application. The Others segment provides battery equipment, battery manufacturing facilities, environment-related equipment, batteries for communication use, l silver batteries and others. The Company has 81 subsidiaries and 41 associated companies.

BRIEF: For the three months ended 30 June 2009, GS Yuasa Corporation's revenues decreased 30% to Y48.92B. The Company's net loss totaled Y2.41B, vs. an income of Y1.16B. Revenues reflect lower sales mainly from total battery & power source business in domestic and oversea markets.
