Continental AG is a Germany-based automotive industry supplier. The Company focuses its activities on the development, production and distribution of products that improve driving safety, driving dynamics and ride comfort. It operates in six divisions. Chassis and Safety provides active and passive driving safety, safety and chassis sensor systems, as well as chassis components. Powertrain focuses on engine systems, hybrid electric drives, injection technology, and sensors and actuators, among others. Interior manufactures information management modules and wireless mobile devices. Passenger and Light Truck Tires provides tires for passenger cars, motorcycles and bicycles. Commercial Vehicle Tires offers tires for trucks, as well as industrial and off-the-road vehicles. BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Continental AG's total revenue decreased 25% to EUR14.4B. Net loss for the period totaled EUR1.5B, vs. a profit of EUR363.5M. Total revenue reflects unfavorable market conditions as well as a decrease in demand for the Company's products and services. Net loss for the period reflects significantly increased other operating expenses and higher administrative expenses.
