Labopharm Inc. is an international specialty pharmaceutical company focused on improving existing drugs by incorporating its advanced controlled-release technologies. The Company develops products internally in order to enter into strategic alliances or licensing agreements with national or international pharmaceutical companies that have the necessary resources and distribution networks to market and sell its pharmaceutical products. The Company’s wholly owned subsidiaries include Labopharm Europe Limited, Labopharm (Barbados) Limited, Labopharm Cyprus Limited and Labopharm USA, Inc. The global commercialization program for its lead product, a once-daily formulation of the analgesic tramadol, is underway and it has multiple follow-on products in the later stages of development. Its once-daily tramadol product has been launched in 15 countries.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Labopharm Inc.'s revenues increased 38% to C$11.2M. Net loss decreased 36% to C$12.8M. Revenues reflect an increase in income from licensing fees, higher royalties and increased income from product sales. Lower loss was partially offset by an increase in selling, general & administrative expenses, increased financial expenses, an increase in cost of goods sold and lower interest income.
