Fresenius SE is a Germany-based holding company of the Fresenius Group, operating in the healthcare sector, with products and services for dialysis, hospitals and outpatient medical care. The Group also offers engineering and services for hospitals and other healthcare facilities. It is organized in four business segments: Fresenius Medical Care, Fresenius Kabi, Fresenius Helios and Fresenius Vamed. Fresenius Medical Care focuses on extracorporeal therapies, dialysis care and manufactures products for patient treatment with chronic kidney failure. Fresenius Kabi specializes in the production and sale of products for infusion therapy, IV drugs, clinical nutrition as well as medical devices and transfusion technology. Fresenius Helios operates hospitals and 62 clinics, mainly in Germany. Fresenius Vamed provides engineering and services for hospitals and other healthcare facilities on an international basis.

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Fresenius SE's sales increased 19% to EUR10.43B. Net income for the period increased 7% to EUR345M. Sales reflect an increase in demand for the Company's products and services in the Fresenius Medical Care and Fresenius Kabi business segments. Net income for the period was partially offset by higher selling, general and administrative expenses and lower net interest.
