Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited (GPL) is an India-based pharmaceutical company. The Company is engaged in discovery of new molecules and is focused in the areas of inflammation, including asthma/ chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and metabolic disorders. The Company has branded generic formulation interests in over 95 countries across the world, including India, Europe, Brazil, Rest of Latin America (excluding Argentina), Russia/ Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Africa and Asia. The formulations business spans several product segments, such as dermatology, internal medicine, respiratory, diabetes, paediatrics, gynaecology, ear, nose and throat (ENT), and oncology. Its products include Levofloxacin, Lornoxicam and Telmisartan. Subsequent to the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009, the Company had acquired a manufacturing unit at Nalagarh, Himachal Pradesh.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 September 2009, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited's revenues increased 9% to RS11.68B. Net income decreased 42% to RS1.34B. Revenues reflect an increase in income from operations and higher other operating income. Net income was offset by an increase in consumption of raw materials, higher purchase of traded goods, a significant rise in employee costs, an increase in depreciation expenses and higher other expenditure.
