Inmarsat Plc provides via satellite a portfolio of global mobile and transportable broadband communication services and solutions across its main areas of maritime, aeronautical and land mobile. The principal services include safety and control communications, instant communications (voice, fax and low-speed data, and instant information services) and high-speed data solutions (from remote local area network (LAN) access to video conferencing). The Company operates in two business segments being the supply of mobile satellite communications services (MSS) and broadband services. The Company provides Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) to the maritime community. In April 2009, the Company completed the acquisition of Stratos Global Corporation. In November 2009, the Company acquired Segovia, Inc. (Segovia), a provider of secure Internet protocol managed solutions and services to the United States Army and other United States military services and government agencies.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Inmarsat plc's revenues increased 5% to $508.7M. Net income increased 25% to $73.9M. Revenues reflect an increase in sales from Mobile Satellite Communication Services, Broadband segments and higher revenue from other segments. Net income also reflects the presence of share of profit of associates, higher interest receivable & similar income and an increase in operating margin.
