KB Home, incorporated on August 31, 1981, is a homebuilding company in the United States. The Company constructs and sells a range of new homes designed primarily for first-time, move-up and active adult homebuyers, including attached and detached single-family residential homes, townhomes and condominiums. The Company's segments include the West Coast, Southwest, Central and Southeast homebuilding segments, and financial services segment. Its homebuilding segments are engaged in the acquisition and development of land primarily for residential purposes. The financial services segment offers property and casualty insurance and, in certain instances, earthquake, flood and personal property insurance to its homebuyers in the same markets as its homebuilding segments, and also provides title services in various markets located within its Central and Southeast homebuilding segments. Its financial services operations also provide mortgage banking services, including residential consumer mortgage loan originations, to its homebuyers indirectly through Home Community Mortgage, LLC (HCM).
The West Coast homebuilding segment operates in various markets in California, such as Contra Costa County, Fresno, Los Angeles, Madera, Oakland, Orange County, Riverside, Sacramento, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Santa Rosa-Petaluma, Stockton, Vallejo, Ventura and Yuba City. The Southwest homebuilding segment operates in various markets in Arizona, such as Phoenix and Tucson, and in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Central homebuilding segment operates in Denver, Colorado, and in Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston and San Antonio, Texas. The Southeast homebuilding segment operates in Daytona Beach, Jacksonville, Lakeland, Orlando, Palm Coast, Punta Gorda, Sarasota, Sebastian-Vero Beach and Tampa, Florida; Baltimore and Rockville, Maryland; Raleigh, North Carolina, and Washington, D.C., Virginia. Its community development process generally consists of approximately four phases, such as land acquisition, land development into finished lots for a community (if necessary), home construction and delivery of completed homes to buyers.
