Lafarge S.A. (Lafarge) is a France-based company that produces and sells building materials, which includes cement, aggregates, concrete, gypsum wallboard and related products worldwide. It operates through three divisions: Cement, Aggregates & Concrete, and Gypsum. The Cement Division produces and sells a range of cement and hydraulic binders adapted to the needs of the construction industry. The Aggregates & Concrete Division produces and sells aggregates, ready mix concrete, other concrete products and other products and services related to paving activities. The Gypsum Division mainly produces and sells drywall for the commercial and residential construction sectors. Other and holding activities, not allocated to the Company’s core business segments, are included in the Other segment. In May 2009, the Company sold its operations in Turkey. The Company sold cement, concrete and aggregates activities in the Marmara and West Black Sea Regions of Turkey.

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2009, Lafarge S.A.'s total revenue decreased 20% to EUR4.25B. Net income for the period decreased 38% to EUR404M. Total revenue reflects decreased demand for the Company's products and services in all business segments as well as unfavorable markets conditions. Net income for the period suffered from decreased operating and gross margins as well as higher financial costs and lower financial income.
