The Company customers include pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies, as well as academic institutions, governmental regulatory agencies, contract research organizations (CROs), and other entities engaged in clinical trial and drug safety monitoring activities. Its electronic data capture (EDC) and clinical data management products are designed to provide clients with enterprise-level automation of paper-based clinical trial processes and to scale clinical trials involving clinical sites and patients worldwide. The Company refers to this unified interactive system as its interactive response technology (IRT). In September 2008, the Company acquired Clarix LLC.
