Stora Enso Oyj (Stora Enso) is a global paper, packaging and forest products company producing newsprint and book paper, magazine paper, fine paper, consumer board, industrial packaging and wood products. During the year ended December 31, 2008, the annual production for the Company was12.7 million tons of paper and board, 1.5 billion square meters of corrugated packaging and 6.9 million cubic meters of sawn wood products, including 3.2 million cubic meters of products. The customers for the Company include publishers, printing houses and paper merchants,as well as the packaging, joinery and construction industries. In October 2009, Stora Enso and Arauco and Constitution Pulp Inc. completed the acquisition of the majority of Grupo ENCE's operations in Uruguay. The joint acquisition on a 50/50 basis includes approximately 130,000 hectares of owned land and plantations, 6,000 hectares of leased lands and other operations owned by Grupo ENCE in the central and western areas of Uruguay.
