Strabag SE is an Austria-based construction company. It divides its activities into three business segments. Building Construction and Civil Engineering is engaged in the construction of power plants, commercial, industrial and residential real estate, as well as bridge building and environmental technology. Transportation Infrastructures is engaged in the construction of concrete and asphalt roads, as well as works connected to road construction and the production of construction materials, such as asphalt, concrete and aggregates. Special Divisions and Concession covers the road, railroad tunnel, underground galleries and caverns construction, as well as ground engineering services, and property and facility management. The Company’s core brands are Strabag, Dywidag, Heilit+Woerner, Moebius and Zueblin. Its core markets are Austria and Germany. Through its subsidiaries it also operates in East and South-East Europe, in Arabic Peninsula, as well as in Canada, China and India.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, Strabag SE's total revenue increased 12% to EUR5.46B. Net loss for the period totaled EUR23.4M, vs. a profit of EUR1M. Total revenue reflects an increase in demand for the Company's products and services in the Road Construction and Tunneling & Services business segments. Net loss for the period reflects higher personnel costs, increased other operating expenses as well as lower interest income.
