Tata Motors Limited is engaged in manufacturing automotive vehicles. It has a portfolio of automotive products, ranging from sub-1 ton to 49 ton gross vehicle weight, trucks and from small, medium, and large buses and coaches to passenger cars, including the car, the Tata Nano, which was introduced during the fiscal year ended March 31, 2009 (fiscal 2009). Its segments include automotive, and others, which include information technology services, construction equipment manufacturing, machine tools and factory automation solutions, high-precision tooling and plastic and electronic components for certain applications, and investment business. In October 2009, the Company acquired the remaining 79% interest in Hispano Carrocera S. A.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 September 2009, Tata Motors Limited's revenues increased less than 1% to RS382.25B. Net loss increased 38% to RS3.07B. Revenues reflect an increase in Tata vehicles/ spares & financing business segment and increased other income. Higher loss reflects an increase in employee cost, increased provision for depreciation & amortization expense and higher purchase of products for sale.
