TUI AG is a Germany-based company mainly engaged in the tourism sector, focusing on the markets of Central, Northern and Western Europe. TUI owns a network of travel agencies and tour operators, including air tours, Thomson, First Choice and TUI Deutschland. It also operates several airlines, including Corsairfly, Thomsonfly and First Choice Airways, among others. The Company is structured into three segments: TUI Travel, TUI Hotels and Resorts, and Cruises. BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2009, TUI AG's revenue decreased 13% to EUR7.26B. Net loss from continuing operations increased from EUR363.8 to EUR729.6M. Revenue reflects a decrease in demand for the Company's products and services in the TUI Travel business segment. Net loss from continuing operations reflects higher financial expenses for the period as well as lower result from joint ventures and associates.
