UTi Worldwide Inc. is a holding company, through its subsidiaries, operates as an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company that provides services through a network of offices and contract logistics centers. The Company’s primary services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the co-ordination of purchase orders and customized management services. As of January 31, 2009, the Company operated a global network of freight forwarding offices and contract logistics and distribution centers in a total of 62 countries. In addition, it serves its clients in 79 additional countries through independent agent-owned offices. The Company operates in two segments: Freight Forwarding, and Contract Logistics and Distribution.

BRIEF: For the six months ended 31 July 2009, UTi Worldwide Inc.'s revenues decreased 34% to $1.61B. Net income from continuing operations decreased 48% to $21.6M. Revenues reflect a decrease in income from freight forwarding segment and lower income from contract logistics & distribution segment. Net income also reflects a decrease in interest income, the presence of other non operating expenses vs. an income and lower pre tax income.
