TMX Group Inc., formerly TSX Group Inc., owns and operates two national stock exchanges, Toronto Stock Exchange, which serves the senior equity market and TSX Venture Exchange, which serves the public venture equity market; Natural Gas Exchange Inc. (NGX), which is an exchange for the trading and clearing of natural gas and electricity contracts in North America, and Shorcan Brokers Limited (SBL), which is a fixed income inter-dealer broker. The Company operates in three segments: the cash markets segment, the energy markets segment and the derivatives markets segment. On May 1, 2008, the Company completed its business combination with Montreal Exchange Inc. (MX) to create TMX Group Inc. On August 29, 2008, MX acquired an additional 21.9% interest in Boston Options Exchange Group, LLC (BOX), giving it an ownership interest of 53.3%. In May 2009, TMX Group, Inc. completed the acquisition of NetThruPut Inc. (NTP), from Enbridge Inc. and Circuit Technology Limited.
