Factbox: The victims

Gemma Adams, 25

Adams grew up in the area. She became involved with drugs at the age of 17 and was drawn into prostitution to fund her heroin habit after leaving a job at an insurance firm.

She was reported missing by her boyfriend and her naked body was recovered from a stream.

After her death, her parents set up an appeal in her name to raise money for the Children’s Hospice in Ipswich.

"We feel that Gemma would have been proud and privileged to contribute to such a worthy cause," they said.

Tania Nicol, 19

Nicol was brought up on an Ipswich council estate.

Her family said she had been popular at school but got in with "the wrong crowd" and ended up working as a prostitute.

Her mother reported her missing and police divers later came across her naked body in a waterway.

Her parents said in tribute: "She was a caring, loving, sensitive girl who would never hurt anyone. Unfortunately, drugs took her away into her own secret world -- a world that neither of us were aware of."

Anneli Alderton, 24

Alderton was described by her mother as "a lovely, bright girl", who was sucked into the world of drugs and prostitution.

She had spent time in prison after turning to crime to fund her drug habit.

She started working the streets of Ipswich after moving there from Huddersfield where she lived with her young son.

Her naked body was spotted by a passing motorist. Police said Alderton, who was three months pregnant when she was killed, had been strangled.

Annette Nicholls, 29

Mother-of-one Nicholls had trained as a beauty therapist but she fell into a life of vice after becoming hooked on heroin and crack cocaine a few years ago.

She was only reported missing after the publicity surrounding the murders of Adams and Nicol.

Her naked body was one of two found near Levington, not far from Nacton.

Paula Clennell, 24

The mother of three young children, Clennell became involved in prostitution to feed her heroin addiction.

Her father said he had no idea she was working as a prostitute and that she was a "mischievous but wonderful person".

She was interviewed by a local television station when she said she was worried about getting into clients' cars but would carry on because she needed the money.
