Aug. 29 - Taliban insurgents freed twelve South Korean hostages in three separate batches, the first of 19 Christian aid workers the rebels agreed to release

The aid workers were handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross in Ghazni province.

The Taliban said it would free the remaining seven South Korean hostages on Thursday.

The Taliban agreed to release the Christian volunteers after South Korea reaffirmed its commitment to pulling its troops out of Afghanistan by the end of the year.

Helen Long reports.
