Anti-whalers target Japan embassy

(00:38) Rough Cut

Feb 8 - Activists from the environmental campaign group Greenpeace erect a life-sized whale fin replica opposite the Japanese embassy in Berlin.

They were protesting against the trial in Japan of two activists who intercepted whale meat which is alleged to have been taken from a Japanese research ship in the Southern Ocean. Dubbed the 'Tokyo Two', Junichi Sato and Toru Suzuki say the whale meat was smuggled off a Japanese research ship with the full knowledge of government officials and was headed for the black market.

The pair intercepted the package, took it to the police and in turn were charged with trespassing and theft. They face up to ten years in jail if convicted.
