Record-breaker Ronaldo arrives

Jul 06 - Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo touches down in Spain ahead of his official presentation at Real Madrid.

Ronaldo's arrival comes with huge expectation after Real paid Manchester United a record transfer fee of 80 million pounds sterling (131.3 million USD).

Eighty thousands fans are expected at the official presentation on Monday evening - 30,000 more than the number that attended the presentation of Brazil playmaker Kaka last week.

Ronaldo arrived in his private plane at the Torrejon de Ardoz base and headed to his medical at La Moraleja Hospital, where fans were also gathered to get a glimpse of the player.

President Florentino Perez has said Ronaldo and Kaka, who Real have signed from AC Milan for around 67 million euros (93.93 million USD), are the two pillars of his new project.
